I consider these to be some of the best bargain/undervalued saxes in the market. I think these models need better labeled because they are more of a "400" model body and keys than an Aristocrat. I wish these were labelled as "Model: 400, series III" (or so). Do you suppose there is a teacher local to you that has a box like that? It's a starting point.(On Consignment - Plays OK/Rough, tune up needed)Ĭousin to the Top Hat & Cane, I would label these "Model: 400, series III". I went through it from time to time trying different ones with different reeds until I found something workable. When I was in school our band director had a great big box of mouthpieces for all the reeds. As I recall it had a tip opening like a 6 or so and was kind of short and fat. When I had the Big B I bought an unmarked Buescher alto piece off Ebay for $20 or something and that was the piece that sounded best with that horn. Somehow though I very much doubt that a great big tip and a small chamber will help much. I don't know jack about mouthpieces, I'm just now going through the process of selecting some for my Beaugnier Vito Tenor. I'm glad somebody out there is doing these though. In the end I decided that I'm not in the musical instrument collection business any more and sold it. In some ways I wish I had done that, but at the same time I guessed I could probably do better with a very much newer Yanagisawa alto. I looked at one of the silver restorations for a Big B alto I had for awhile.

It was originally silver so I redid it that way but made it look different too. I attached photos of my beautifully restored sax too. I am willing to spend about abit but the Theo wanne mantra mouthpiece is $750 in Australia so not that much. I know most of you will probably say just stay with the Rico Royal Graftonite but I really want a metal mouthpiece but I just don't know where to start.

I'm after a modern jazz/rock sound loud and bright. I played the Theo wanne mantra mouthpiece and really liked it and the sound but I can't afford that much for a MPC, can anyone recommend a good metal tenor mouthpiece for me that would go good with my sax.

I like the sound I am getting but it's not quite what I want. I've been playing on a B5 Rico Royal Graftonite mouthpiece with fibracell 2.5 reed. So here is my question I've finally think my sound is good enough but I need to upgrade my mouthpiece. I just recently got my saxophone restored, it is an early model series 1 art Deco buescher aristocrat tenor saxophone serial number is 282803 putting around 1938. New to this so here goes, I've been playing the tenor saxophone for 16 years now and clarinet for 20.
